With last week’s news that Hostess Brands was heading for bankruptcy, Americans by the thousands, nah millions, rushed to their nearest store and bought up as many delightful vanilla cream treats as they could.
Seeing as how you can’t make this…(yes, that is a bacon wrapped Twinkie)
Without those spongy treats, I give you this recipe from scoochmaroo over at Instructables:
Cake:16-ounce box golden pound cake mix 4 egg whites, beaten until stiff 2/3 cup water
Filling:1/4 cup non-hydrogenated shortening or coconut oil 1/4 cup margarine 1 cup powdered sugar 1 tsp. vanilla extract
