Get a Whiff of BaconAir…

For those of you who have stuck around here for a while, you know of my love / not so much relationship with the folks at JD’s., makers of Bacon Salt, Baconnaise, MMMvelopes, and most recently bacon cola with Jones.

One one hand, I truly appreciate their inventiveness.

On the other, none of their products include any bacon (at all) and all their stuff kinda taste like yuck.

Well, they are at it again.  This time with the creation of BaconAir

Their “creation” story is pretty good, here’s an excerpt:

Hungry for bacon but don’t want the calories? Try BaconAir! Competing in a sporting event or spelling bee? Try BaconAir! Vacuuming the house? Try BaconAir! Taking a test? Try BaconAir! Driving a race car or semi-truck? Try BaconAir. If you want to run faster, jump higher, look and feel more attractive or memorize long sequences of numbers – try BaconAir!

Wanna see the rest? Pop over and read it.  While you are there, if you are so moved, you can get your name on the waiting list.  Retail is $8.99.

Ooh, that Smell…Can’t you Smell that Smell?

We’ve run across many an interesting thing here at TDB and we’ve featured some innovated and somewhat “questionable” bacon products.  Along the way I have continued to defend my fellow bacon nerds…well my friends, it’s getting harder and harder to keep doing that when we have something like this:

Yes, that is bacon cologne.  I’m sorry, make that Bac?n (ED NOTE: for some reason, that line over the “o” just won’t show up). And if that wasn’t enough, it comes in TWO scents…Bac?n Classic and Bac?n Gold.  What’s the difference?  From their website:

Bac?n Classic is carefully crafted with bergamot, orange, lime, grapefruit, black pepper, cedar wood, vetiver & guaiacwood a dash of savory, 2 pinches’ of salty goodness and the secret formula. Bac?n Gold is carefully crafted with mandarin, bergamot, grapefruit, lemon, nutmeg, pimento berry & black pepper a touch of sweet, a smidgen of savory, a pinch of salty goodness and the secret formula.

I’ll give them credit, their site is fun.  Head on over to read more and see their commercial.  If so inclined, you may also pick up the scent of your choice for just $36.00.

Thanks to FoodBeast and FOTBD Woody (SHOUT OUT) for the heads up.

REVIEW – FilterChef

So a few weeks back, I got on a mini kick about bacon grease.  During that time, I came across this:

how-it-works-mini

The FilterChef!

I was intrigued, so I went ahead a bought one.  Man, am I glad I did!

FULL DISCLOSURE: I bought this product myself and I am not being compensated in any way for my review.  Photos after the jump.

Here’s a gallery of images from my first use of the FilterChef.  The micro-screen really does a great job straining the grease and you are left with golden goodness to be used in a multitude of recipes.

Best of all, clean up was a snap AND it looks great in the kitchen.  A far cry from grandma’s Taster’s Choice coffee can in the fridge.

If you like bacon and want to add a little taste to your recipes, then I can not recommend this any more.  You can pick them up at their website!

So now I have what I need to begin my next challenge – the bacon infused bourbon!

Hot Bacon for Chicken Wings…

With the wave of bacon products on the market today, it was only a matter of time…

Actually, it’s funny that it’s taken this long for someone to have the idea of marrying these two flavors.

I actually came across this product through a Facebook ad on my profile page…way to target those ad units to my “likes” Big Brother Zuckerburg.  Your machine is working!

I visited the site baconhotsauce.com and can’t find what the actual ingredients are. After my experience with Bacon Salt, I am leery of food items that claim to be “Bacon-Flavored” as they probably don’t actually include any real bacon.  Seeing this in their About Us section also cause me pause:

Bacon Hot Sauce has gone through many iterations and was developed in collaboration with a leading food scientist.

“Leading food scientist”, oh boy…

So you game?  Care to try?  Pick yourself up a 5 oz. bottle for $5.99 from their site.
