Bacon – Taste the Rainbow!

I’m gonna let the pictures do the talkin’ here…

Yes, that is a rainbow of bacon!  Why?  Because someone (a certain Neil Caldwell) dared to dream.

I don’t know how I feel about this and have reservations about eating anything that blue or purple or green but I will give the man some credit, he’s gone and done something pretty unique.

Thanks to FoTDB Justin for the heads up on this story found on Bacon Today.

OMG! Bacon Wrapped Cheese Filled Tater Tots of Goodness

Anyone that has caught an episode of Bacon Live knows that here at Mr. Baconpants one of our favorite foods other than bacon is tater tots. Those yummy little puffs of potatoes remind us of our childhood and we just can’t get enough of them. Sadly not a lot of restaurants feature the mighty tots on their menu but when they do they quickly become one of my favorite places to eat.

Now when you take the crispy nostalgia of tater tots and wrap them in the power of bacon you have yourself a food that will be the envy of any tailgating event. But then if you add cheese in the mix you have yourself a treat fit for the gods.

Collegiate Times has a quick and easy recipe for these mouth watering poppers. Now you can be the hit at any party by showing up with a tray of these bad boys. Let me just give one pro tip that can separate the men from the boys. While making your bacon wrapped cheese filled tater tots slice a jalapeño and stick a pepper ring to each tot for an extra kick.

Check out the recipe here and let us know if you have any ways of taking these tots to the next level.

Jamaican Jerk Bacon

Last November, (a year ago – yes, shut up!) the Whiskey Bacon crew gathered at Brown Barn Cafe with friends and fellow bourbonites to celebrate a delicious evening of beer, bacon and bourbon. During this Beer, Bacon & Bourbon event one of the snacks we feasted upon was Jamaican Bacon.

Jamaican Jerk Bacon - Beer Bacon Bourbon-2

Made by Whiskey Beard, this savory treat will Jamaican you crazy! You won’t be able to eat just one (or two or three) bites of this delicious bacon.

Jamaican Jerk Bacon - Beer Bacon Bourbon-1This is a traditional, Jamaican jerk rubbed recipe. Even though it calls for one habanero it’s not overly spicy, and there is a nice blend of citrus and heat. Please keep in mind that the orange juice in an important part of this recipe.

Beer, Bacon & Bourbon was may be the first of many Whiskey Bacon events to come. We’d like to once again thank Brown Barn Cafe for hosting, and the Susquehanna Brewing Co for supplying us with delicious beer to benefit one of our favorite charities.

Beer…it’s what’s for Breakfast!

I was catching up on my nerd sites tonight when I came across this…

It may not be pretty now…but in a few weeks it’s going to become a oatmeal, coffee, bacon stout!

Sean Fallon at Nerd Approved is an avid home brewer with a dream.  That dream, to take three of his favorite things – bacon, coffee and beer – and put them all together in one tasty beverage.

He is chronicalling his brewing experience over the next few weeks over on the site!  TDB wishes you well Sean (and any chance I could get you to send a bottle this way???)

What a week this has been for bacon inginuity.  Colored bacon yesterday, homemade bacon beer today…what glorious idea will come next???
