Year in Review 2010

Time for the Big List of Things That Were Very Awesome or Important or Mostly Just Entertaining in 2010.

A List of Random Things That Happened to Me This Year:
1. Hot Pants and I spent our January honeymoon in Hawaii. It was just as awesome as you might imagine. Also, I got a tattoo while in Maui.
2. I watched quite a few friends get married, get engaged or get pregnant.
3. My beautiful niece Rhiley celebrated her second birthday in November, and her mom announced she’s going to be a big sister come May.
4. I revived this blog after months of not posting and overhauled what I do here to focus more on the world of crafting and handmade awesomeness.
5. Hot Pants and I celebrated our first anniversary with a trip to St. Simons Island, Ga.
6. Atlanta had its first white Christmas since 1882, but we weren’t here. We were in Memphis, which was enjoying its first snow on Christmas since 1992. No accumulation, though.

Georgia!

Oh, unusual musical collaborations. You make me so happy.
Atlanta resident and captain of cool Cee-Lo Green has a new single from his upcoming album “The Lady Killers.” This one pays homage to his home state and extols its virtues, of which there are multitude. Duh.
Anyway, so Band of Horses wanted to pay the same kind of tribute to Georgia, where lead singer Ben Bidwell’s parents grew up, so they covered Cee-Lo’s new song. They even asked the University of Georgia’s marching band to help out on the track (for this, they can be forgiven).?And then Cee-Lo was all “me, too! me, too!” and covered Band of Horses’ “No One’s Gonna Love You” for his new album. The two musical acts have released a duo single with two A-sides featuring the covers.?And it is awesomeness. You must download them here.

Hey Mr. DJ…it’s a Bacon Mix!

Surfin’ through the interwebs last week and what do I find but some “tasty” tunes.

It’s a digital “mix tape” by Bay Area DJ Enki.  Check out the sweetness, it even includes a little tune that I have dubbed TDB’s official theme song

“That’s Not Beef, That’s Pork” — Atmosphere
“Ham ‘n’ Eggs” — A Tribe Called Quest
“Who’s Got the Bacon?” — Howie B
“High on the Hog” — Tony Borders
“Ham Hocks Espanol” — Jimmy Castor
“Ham Gallery” — Poets of Rhythm
“Hand for the Hog”/”Two Pigs and a Hog”/”Bacon Biscuit Blues” — John Short/Freddie Perren/Aerosmith
“Bacon Fat” — Andre Williams
“Funky Thing” — Chuck Cornish
“Pigs” — Cypress Hill
“Bacon and Eggs” — Kurupt
“Pork Soda” — Primus
“Poke Chop Sandwich” — ZZ Top
“Hoggin’ Ain’t E-Z” — Total Devastation
“Pork” — The Pharcyde
“Selling My Pork Chops” — Memphis Minnie

Wanna listen to the mix?  There is link to download over at Woo-Ha.
